Macy’s and Gap have had so many sales recently! Here’s what I bought:
These buys will be perfect for summer in San Fransisco, and warmer parts of the state!

What does a day off from work call for? A photoshoot…duh!
Believe it or not, but this look didn’t have much prep work put into it!
I woke up with BED HEAD (didn’t brush my hair after the shower), and decided to curl my hair…it worked out better than expected! Then I put on my “dress up” crop top, some high waisted jeans, Freshman Year Formal heels from Bunny’s Shoes (my favorite hometown shoe shop), and called it a day!
It’s amazing what dressing up and getting out of the house can do for the soul! Photoshoots have surprisingly been one of my most favorite aspects of blogging.
I used to hate having my picture taken, but after a while I learned to experiment and found an assurance in myself that I had always lacked.
We live in such a divine place, and I have gained confidence just from realizing that I am a small part of this world.
Here are a few ideas for how to go about your love day in the city:
1) Head over to North Beach and enjoy a romantic dinner at Park Tavern in the perfect red dress.
2) Pack a picnic for Golden Gate Park, and don’t forget your hat!
3) Go for a walk over Big Red in comfortable, yet chic activewear.
4) Stay in bed all day in lovely loungewear.
5) Wear your hot pants to Ghirardelli and savor the rich chocolate with a view!
6) Dress up for a movie night in a vintage off-the-shoulder number.

I recently came across this article by the Daily Mail entitled, “You are what you DRESS: Clothing has significant effect on self-esteem and confidence, claims expert” (Karen Pine, professor from the University of Hertfordshire). Pine claims clothing can weigh in on more than just your personal appearance. After asking a group of students to wear a superman T-shirt for a day, she found that not only did the students feel superior to others, but they also felt stronger physically.
I have found this to be true in my own life as well. Aside from feeling more confident when I am in an outfit I love (something I know I look good in), I have noticed that dressing up can play a huge role in who I wanna present to the world. I remember shopping for my prom dress my senior year of high school…I didn’t know what I wanted to wear, but I knew who I wanted to BE that night. I wanted to show everyone a different side of myself than I brought to class everyday–the reserved, yet classy girl who looked up to style icons like Audrey Hepburn. I wanted to feel timeless; the same way I would look back on the last night of an impactful period of my life.
I imagine I felt similar to the way a superhero feels when they are in full costume, about to save the world…like everyone was finally able to see who I really was, and what I was capable of.

My favorite type of outfit consists of something I can dress up or down.
With my Zara heels, this outfit is dinner ready!
These high waisted pants pair well with a structured top.
Adding my winter appropriate hat makes the outfit feel more like a daytime look.
Though I love taking fashion risks, I always feel more confident when I’m wearing my signature silhouette: high waisted pants, heels, a loose fitted top, and fun accessories. To find your signature look, take a peak at your go-to outfits. Is there any common element among them? If so, run with it.

My Mom got this beautiful clutch for Christmas, and I LOVE IT.
It goes with anything and everything. You can dress it up or down. What I love most about it is that it is the perfect accent accessory.
This clutch can stand alone. It is a signature look from L.L. Bean right now. This Signature Vegetable-Tanned Leather Clutch is a one of a kind.
I haven’t decided what I will be wearing on NYE quite yet, but I can guarantee you it will include this clutch.
I am pretty lucky my Mom is willing to share it with me… Somehow I always find myself in her closet around this time of year, in hopes of finding a hidden gem like this one.
To be honest, I owe my fashion obsession to my Mom. I’ve been playing dress-up in her closet for as long as I can remember.

Most of us picture holiday parties happening at night. However, many parties do occur in the day time. But what is appropriate to wear during the day?! I mean, it’s so easy to OVER DO IT.
Here is what I advise:
Holiday dresses can scream formal. Switching it up with a skirt and an eye catching top is a great alternative.
Velvet is a perfect material for the season. All you have to do is commit to a color scheme, and the outfit will appear as just the right amount of fancy and understated.
Wear heels, but something a little more casual– open toes to show off your fun holiday nails will do the trick! Don’t hold back on your accessories. Classy jewelry will keep your look whole.
If you’re every worried about what to do with your hair, just wear it down. It’s effortless, yet beautiful. Keep your make-up refined. A deep lip that matches the color scheme, and lots of mascara will be just enough.

As the holiday season approaches, the idea of “what-to-wear” seems a little bit daunting…
So, I have come up with the perfect guide for each occasion:
“When in doubt, wear red.”- Bill Blass
It’s my Three Year Anniversary! Last night we went out to our favorite sushi place, tonight we are seeing Fury, and tomorrow night we are going to Alcatraz!
Whenever I go out, I usually do the typical heels, maybe a dress, or at least skinny jeans thing. For some reason, I felt like mixing it up last night. Why can’t we still dress up without feeling uncomfortable?
I opted for the statement necklace and satin button down to keep my look classy. Sometimes that’s all you really need.
And my new shoes from American Eagle, of course! This season I am all about patterns; it adds personality and flavor to any look.
I’m not sure if I mentioned this, but I recently started working at Abercrombie & Fitch (this deserves an entire blog post, I know). Anyway, I get discounted clothes not only from Abercrombie and Abercrombie Kids, but also Hollister, which is where this coat is from!
Surprisingly, one of my best buys! It can be casual, fancy, and actually really useful in the city! More importantly, just what I needed to top off my date night look.
So…as we all know…It’s New York Fashion Week…
And as a mere college student living in San Francisco, I thought it quite suitable to play dress up!
Then again, I find it quite suitable to play dress up almost any day of the week!
I hope to one day be able to experience NYFW for myself, but until then, I’ll just have to find ways to add to the fashion spirit from this side of the country!
Is it just me, or is it easier to wear your hair natural when your outfit is a tad on the fancy side? Some might call it backwards, but for some reason, I feel more confident knowing my outfit can stand alone…
And when my outfit speaks for itself, so do I!
