Summer is turning to fall quickly this year, and I’m more than ready for the shift of seasons. One of my favorite fall fashion pieces is scarves. They can dress up and add style to an average look, and their cozy feel is comforting on a brisk, chilly morning. Living under the redwoods, I find myself wearing a big, warm scarf at home in my loungewear on most fall evenings. One of my favorite fall looks is a messy bun or ponytail and a scarf, perfect for days when I am not up for doing my hair. Usually Santa Cruz has an Indian Summer, but I find myself longing for cooler evenings, oversized sweaters, and hot apple cider. Sweater weather is in full swing, and I couldn’t be happier. When the temperature dips, my go-to looks usually involve a sweater. I love pairing a cardigan over a tank top and high waisted jeans, putting on booties with a chunky turtleneck, or wearing a simple loose-knit pull over with leggings and flats. Fall Decor Inspiration

I love how the short, brisk days of Fall make me want to curl up by a fire with a good book, a warm blanket, and a mug of hot apple cider. I grew up in a home that always felt good to be in, with many nooks for curling up. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that making a house feel like a home is no accident, and I appreciate the efforts my parents made to always make our house warm and inviting, particularly around special times of year. When I moved to the city for school, I missed those many comforts. To help make my apartment feel like home, I started decorating with little bits and pieces to bring the Holidays inside. For me, when Summer turns to Fall, that means hanging string lights around the windows, getting a few small pumpkins to set out, and lighting pumpkin pie scented candles. Halloween is just around the corner! As I’ve gotten older, dressing up for the festivities has become more and more of a chore. When I was a kid, it felt so hard to decide between so many great choices, but now I usually feel completely unable to find a really good costume. Unluckily, I’ve never been crafty enough to make an entire original creation either. I’ve learned to focus on the make-up as the centerpiece of my effort. Autumn Boots Wish List

Am I the only one who’s noticed it’s getting a little chillier? It’s finally time to pull back out my favorite type of shoes…BOOTS! For the rest of the year I’ll probably wear boots more than anything else. Fall is finally here! Hands down, this is my favorite season, and October is the best month of the year where I live. I used to wear plaid a lot when I was a kid and have since tried to incorporate it into my wardrobe with bits and pieces, like a subtle scarf here and there, but now I feel like I can really dive in. Usually when I think of Fall, I imagine muted colors and tones, like tan, burgundy, and green. But I love the way an accessory can add a pop to a Fall outfit. It isn’t overwhelming, just a little something to make you look twice. One bright color can be the best complement to an otherwise understated look. I love the splash of a brightly colored scarf, tights, or piece of jewelry.
