This holiday season I’m ditching a dramatic eye for a bold lip.

Not only is this look easier to achieve, but I think it is also appropriate for every occasion–family reunion, corporate holiday party, Christmas moviethon, etc. With a bold lip, you can keep everything else simple and neutral but still look like you put in effort without coming off over the top. My color of choice? Berry. This warm and bright shade is fitting for this time of year, but ultimately, any red will do, as long as it is BOLD.

Thanksgiving Rompers & Jumpsuits

With Thanksgiving only a couple days away, there’s so much to do–grocery shopping, meal prepping, decorating, and most importantly…outfit planning.

It can be difficult to know what to wear as a guest. You don’t want to be over the top, uncomfortable, or too casual.

Wearing a romper or jumpsuit is the perfect answer. Rompers effortlessly evoke the appropriate combination of looking like you tried while still being able to move.

The LBD of Summer

Many times on this blog I’ve mentioned how important a Little Black Dress (LBD) is for every woman’s wardrobe, but usually I’m referring to a dress that is fit for a holiday party, last minute black tie wedding, or fancy date night.

Finding an LBD that can do all of those things AND be casual enough for the beach is a whole other story.

Always a Bridesmaid, Never a Bride

After working tons of weddings this season, I’ve seen many different dress options for bridesmaids. As time progresses, people are moving in a less traditional direction—which I love! Most notably, I have not seen a single wedding this year where each bridesmaid is wearing a 100% matching dress, as is typically found at your run of the mill wedding dress shop. Let’s face it, it’s nearly impossible to flatter EVERYONE in your bridal party with the same dress, so why try? Instead of forcing something that usually doesn’t fit or feel right, brides are getting creative. These are a few of my favorite modern bridesmaids dress trends (so far:-)

I’ve been intrigued by Harry and Meghan since news first broke that they were seeing each other, and the footage of the royal wedding was so fun to watch. It’s like a modern day twist on a childhood fairytale, because this charming prince met a mature, self-made woman with a story and style of her own.

She’s gone from girl next-door to Hollywood glam to Kensington Palace, and her Givenchy wedding dress by Clare Waight Keller really spoke to who she was. It was classic and contemporary at the same time, with an elegance and simplicity that reflected her persona perfectly–no frills or embellishments, yet beautiful. What was even more lovely to me was her sophisticated reception dress by Stella McCartney. The halter cut was so sexy and chic. I immediately started looking for something similar to enjoy this summer. Here’s a few options I’ve found that might work for us commoners:

When I was younger, I always kept my distance from long skirts. I felt they were restraining, unshapely, and one of the many fads from the 19th century that I didn’t want to revisit. Fast forward to 2018 when long skirts have completely reinvented themselves, and now they are not only breathable and flattering, but also versatile. They provide options for styling an outfit in a myriad of ways—from sporty to professional and everywhere in between. It’s fun experimenting with them. Holiday Long Sleeve Dresses

The Holidays are under way! Figuring out what to wear can be difficult. I love dressing up, but I never own a dress that’s warm enough, and yet still elegant. Most of my dresses are meant to be worn in the summer, usually sleeveless, short sleeve, or even strapless. I realized an easy fix to my problem—invest in some long sleeve dresses! Holiday Hair

The holidays are creeping up on us, and I couldn’t be more ready. One of my favorite aspects of the season are the many fun excuses to get all dolled up! It’s no secret that experimenting with hair and makeup is one of my most beloved past times, and Thanksgiving is a great chance to debut a new style! As I’ve blogged about before, Kristin Ess is one of the most Instagram worthy hairstylists out there—she’s constantly inspiring me to try something new. I love her effortless, chic looks. They feel ethereal and timeless, and usually aren’t that difficult to recreate. I especially love when she adds a simple accessory to her up-dos—something that would fit well on an extra special occasion during the Winter months.
