Wedding Season

Wedding season is in full bloom. That means it’s time to figure out what to wear, which isn’t always easy.

If I’m unsure about the dress code, I try to pick something versatile–easy to dress up or down.

Summer weddings, particularly if they are set outside, usually imply a more casual look. I decided to pair the ensemble with my favorite wedge sandals, something suitable for the season. I also opted to wear my hair down with minimal jewelry. If it were a black tie event, I might have chosen an updo and pearl earrings.

Whenever I go shopping for a special occasion, I try to buy things that I know I will wear again. I decided on a two piece–high waisted skirt and cropped lace top to match. I’ve already worn the pieces separately since the wedding.

My last piece of advice is to pick something you feel comfortable in. You’ll be posing for many photos and dancing all night, so choose wisely.

Suede

Suede is the perfect material for a Summer jacket.

It’s lighter than a leather, but still edgy.

During the colder months, I love to add my leather jacket to any outfit. It’s a statement piece that takes jeans and a t-shirt to the next level.

The Summer months are way too hot for leather, unfortunately. Luckily for me, I discovered this replacement suede jacket from Bar III.

I love the simplicity in it. Without too much going on, the cut and shape of the jacket complements any figure.

Not only is this jacket flattering, but it’s also versatile. You can pair it with jeans or a dress–day or night. Definitely an essential for your closet!

Our favorite place to get coffee in the Sunset is at Andytown. At one point, I think we were going there religiously once a week. From the atmosphere to the coffee, this place is is great if you are ever visiting San Francisco.

As I have expressed before, my favorite color for this Season is Pink. Whether it be a bright shade, or a more neutral one, I love how the cheerful color can make any Spring outfit pop. I especially love a Pink shoe. Here are a few of my favorite tones and styles:

Mix & Match

I love to mix & match my clothing.

That’s why fashion is so much fun–there are NO rules!

I bought the burgundy long sleeve pictured above thinking of it only as a dress.

I imagined myself wearing it buttoned down with a belt to define my waist and maybe with tights and boots in the winter, but I had never once thought about unbuttoning it.

As a dress, this piece of clothing sat in my closet for months. I would try it on from time to time, but never ended up wearing it.

And then it hit me. I could try wearing this a different way–mix it up. So I did.

Though I still think it would look cute as a dress, it suits me much better as a cardigan.

Spring Break

Spring Break has gone by way too fast. I’m dreading going back to school.

I spent most days in my pajamas, but last night I decided to dress up–hoping my mood would improve too. And it did.

School takes so much out of me. It’s exhausting. Personally, I find that having a good day starts in my closet.

When I put something on that makes me feel happy, confident, and uplifted, my day turns out better. Mindset is everything. For me, looking good is feeling good. It is different for everybody, though.

Sometimes the trick to having a positive day is surrounding yourself with positive people.

That’s why Spring Break is so important. It gives you time to rejuvenate your soul.

During the school year, I find myself feeling rushed to get out the door, and often annoyed that I have to “try”. I forget that I actually ENJOY the process of getting ready.

I love trying different outfits on, playing with make-up and hair, and taking long showers. It can be nice to prepare yourself for whatever the day has in store. Unfortunately, it’s easy to get caught up in the day to day stress of teachers, tests, and traffic. It becomes habit to not want to wake up and face the day.

Spring Break has reminded me to take the time to try and make each day the the best it can be, especially if that means choosing to wear something that makes me happy.

Outerlandssf

Outerlands is one of my favorite spots to brunch in the city. They are located on Judah Street in the Inner Sunset, just a few blocks up from Ocean Beach. Since it is finally starting to feel like Spring in the city, we opted for outside seating.

I ordered the iced ginger lemon apple cider–a perfect way to start the day. You can even add bourbon if you don’t have class to go to after!

Joel began with a cappuccino…

…then upgraded to a gin and juice (ford’s gin, fresh grapefruit, vanilla bean syrup). Their sandwiches really hit the spot. Joel got the cast-iron grilled cheese with avo.

I chose their veggie sandwich (squash, feta, kale, romesco). Superb. Oh, and did I mention how much I loved the side of pickled veggies?! It was a refreshing touch.

Our sweet tooth couldn’t be ignored. We split the glazed donut (matcha, pepita, grapefruit). It was served warm and satisfied our cravings.

We were completely stuffed, so we decided to walk it off at Lands End. As you can tell from the picture, Joel doesn’t like taking selfies as much as me. Fear not…it hasn’t stopped me from documenting our every move yet! (he-he)

Yesterday was the first day of March. Though it’s technically still Winter, I am automatically starting to transition into Spring mode. I associate the color Blush with Spring (despite the fact that I wear it all year long). It’s light, feminine, flowery, timeless, and ethereal. Check out some of my Blush favorites for Spring:

Valentine’s Day

San Francisco is full of great things to do. With so many options to choose from, we opted for a favorite–Ghirardelli Square. The desserts are decadent, and the scenery is unbeatable.
